This dental facility is one of Kaiser Permanente’s three buildings in the area offering orthodontic, and general and pediatric dental services. A healthy buildings airflow survey was conducted to help Kaiser ensure that the HVAC systems were providing ventilation as intended. There are dedicated exhaust systems for the lab, restrooms, and janitorial closets.
For each zone, the supply, return, and exhaust airflows were measured using methods flow hoods and duct traverse as needed. Airflows were documented on the mechanical floor plans adjacent to each grill. Total supply, return and exhaust airflows were also recorded. Calculations were then completed for total air changes and ventilation rates for each zone.
